Hey, there.
My name is Lisa M. Peppan, and I’m an independent author of Alternate Universe/Portal fantasy. I’m also an avid family historian (the non-Native side of the family’s been in North America since the early 1600s), and I’ve been known to dress up like it’s the mid-1800s and educate the public about the Hudson’s Bay Company on the Pacific Coast as a volunteer historic reenactor. Welcome to my new website. Earlier this month, the server hosting my writing, genealogy, and history pages wheezed its last gasp. I’m hoping WordPress can be a good home to all three. Everything in this post is as I knew things to be on Sept 28, 2023.
I admire people who can write short stories. I’ve tried, and, as a result, have a series of five books I call, collectively, “The Geaehn Chronicles.” Started writing them in 1984, and have a sixth book in the works as of 28 Sept 2023. Little did I know that 2013 was the year that far too many independent authors would include the word “Chronicle” in their titles. With my 4th book, “ Don’t Start”, I realized that the collective name should have been “The Cab Driver Mages.”
In the ten years since the first, “SomeWhen Over the Rain Clouds”, came out, I’ve taken a couple stabs at creating author pages, and they were uninspiring enough that a friend gifted me with one because “[I’ve] written multiple books and should have an author page (the gift webpage will be active through December; thank you, Mr. Jones). Still trying to sort out how WordPress does things, but my novels, and the world they’re set in, are part of the reason I’m here, on WordPress. There needed to be some place to put the color pictures I can’t afford to put in the books, like the picture at the top of this post.
What…?
I’m self-published through Amazon. Got an author page, there, too, as Lisa Peppan … if you can find me behind Peppa Pig.
Another reason I’m here is my great great Grandfather Etienne Pepin was one of Fort Langley’s blacksmiths, and while trying to learn more about him and his wife, Isabelle of the Kwantlen. Because Etienne Pepin was not the only HBC employee having children with First Nations women near Fort Langley in British Columbia, Canada, I created the Children of Fort Langley website. The Children of Fort Langley is an ensemble piece, and when the server the site used to be on finally died, at least one person was in the middle of a project (he who owned the geriatric server was surprised it lasted this long; he was so very good to me and my websites).
I’m still learning about Isabelle. I’m named after her.
Etienne Pepin (Magice, Maille, May), on the other paw is the great great great grandson of Robert Pepin, one of the First Families of Québec. So, I made a website: the Northwest Twig of the Pepin/Peppan Family Tree. It’s first home was on Tripod; the landing page is still there. It’s second home was fortlangley.ca; I’m hoping to get that one back up and running here on WordPress (but I might have taken too long to save up $$ to do this).
This is the first step.
Originally I created my previous websites using Old School html, and have all those files (thank you, Richarard). Gonna see what I can do with them.
But for now…? Though I want to have my books, my genealogy, and my history pages here, with links at the bottom of the page, all Old School. Something rather like:
Geaehn Chronicles : NW Twig of the Pepin/Peppan Family Tree : Children of Fort Langley
But, baby steps. I have to unlearn the Old School HTML
Did I mention I have five fantasy novels for sale at Amazon? In trade paperback, eBook, and if you have Kindle Unlimited you can read them for free. Soon as I get the whole website thing squared away, I’ll work on making my five available in hardback.
Until then, the Shadowcat’s ToyBox has returned.
